Apacheland Days 2012

January 20-22, 2012

Master Basket Weaver Evalena Henry, a San Carlos Apache, from Peridot, Arizona, will again join us for our two day event.  Evalena will demonstrate how she makes her beautiful baskets.  Evalens specializes in making ceremonial baskets, large baskets, and burden baskets.
Evalena has won many awards and is considered a "National Treasure" and is widely recognized for her work. Evalena has taught at the Smithsonian and has been honored in Washington DC.

If you are interested in purchasing one of Evalena's beautiful baskets, come early.  Last year the baskets were gone within the first few hours.

John Bear, Native American Elder and Flutist will teach and play.
Bring your questions and your flute.

Ride the Hollywood Trail at Apacheland Days with local film historian and author Charlie LeSueur.  Through the mid-1950's, Hollywood's Western movies made international stars of Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Ken Maynard and many others.  Charlie will discuss these classic "cowboy" movies and their stars in the Elvis Memorial Chapel during Apacheland Days.  Charlie will also be signing his book.
